According to local magazine BLIC, Hurricane will represent Serbia in Eurovision 2021.
What're the plans of Serbia for Eurovision 2021 ? What did Hurricane say about participating Eurovision 2021?
After the Eurovision Song Contest this year was not held due to the coronavirus virus pandemic, the European Broadcasting Union decided to hold the competition in Rotterdam next year.
Due to the financial problems that are present in the world, a decision was made that Beovizija -which is a national selection in Serbia to determine Eurovision representative- will not be held next year. The last time this competition was interrupted was in 2009, and then it started to be held again in 2019. Therefore, the colors of our flag will be defended in 2021 by girls who were supposed to perform in the Netherlands this year, but failed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The group "Hurricane" consisting of Ivana Nikolić, Sanja Vučić, Ksenija Knezević will travel to Rotterdam in the spring, but with a new song that will be done by then. Due to the rules, which are very strict, a new song will have to be sent by next year, which will be performed on the big stage - explains a source close to the RTS production and adds: -
We will make the greatest efforts in order to have a great song again with which we could compete and achieve the best possible results. The girls have enough time to get ready when it comes to choreography, singing, costumes and many other things. It is important to make the best possible song and for Serbia to have a worthy representative at this great competition. A detailed plan will be made in the coming weeks about what will be done in the coming months.
What's Hurricane's thoughts for participating Eurovision 2021 ?
Considering that the Eurovision Song Contest was canceled this year, we would like to get a chance to represent our country in 2021 as well. The decision is definitely on RTS, and we will be very happy if it is us. We have shown that we can meet all the conditions for a very complex competition such as the Eurovision Song Contest. We tried this year and we are ready to give ourselves and our maximum even more next year, and then to see this competition in Serbia in 2022
-Hurricane told the"Blic" magazine.
As a reminder, in 2007, Marija Serifovic brought Serbia victory in this music competition, and this year she recorded the song "Molitva" on the empty streets of Belgrade. This video was presented at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, which carried the message "Europe Shine a Light", and Marija received numerous positive comments.
