The first semi-finalists of Eesti Laul 2021 were announced

Today, Eesti Laul has revealed the first 12 artists who will participate in the semi-finals of the 2021 edition of Eesti Laul which will be held in February.


Jury member Laura Põldvere admitted that she thought about participating for a very long time, but felt that she had other exciting things to do. Estonian Song producer Tomi Rahula noted that he was satisfied with the selection of songs.

"The good thing is that the jury isn't one-sided and got a different kind of music to choose from, which is very important. It's not a one-size-fits-all thing."

A total of 156 songs arrived for the competition, from which the 17-member jury selected the winners. 24 songs will make it to the semi-finals of Eesti Laul 2021, the remaining 12 semi-finalists will be announced in "Ringvaate" on Thursday.

The 12 semi-finalists published on Wednesday in alphabetical order:

  • "Calm down" : performed by Nika Marula Compiled by Andrei Zevakin, Nika Marula, Daniil Kotilevits

  • "Hypnotized" by Kéa Loo by Ketter Orav, Sander Sadam, Alvar Antson

  • "Lost In A Dance" : performed by Gram-Of-Fun Song authors Martin Kuut, Kristel Aaslaid, Raul Ojamaa, Kostja Tsõbulevski, Mikk Simson

  • "Sweet Melancholy" : performed by Jüri Pootsmann Authors of the song Jüri Pootsmann, Joonas Mattias Sarapuu, Jana Hallas, Aleksi Liski

  • "So High" by Helen Loo by Rob Montes, Jason Hunter, Renae Rain, Helen Randmets

  • "One By One" by Hans Nayna Authors Vahur Valgmaa, Hans Nayna

  • "Tartu" : performed by REDEL Composed by Kristjan Oden, Indrek Vaheoja

The pre-jury of Eesti Laul 2021 included Bert Prikenfeld, Kaupo Karelson, Jüri Pihel, Jaan Pehk, Anu Varusk, Karl-Erik Taukar, Sten Teppan, Mari-Liis Männik, Ahto Kruusmann, Margus Kamlat, Laura Põldvere, Vaido Pannel, Ra Kõrvits , Dmitri Mikrjukov, Andres Aljaste and Liis Lemsalu. For the first time, Eesti Laul 2021 competition stories will be heard on ETV's special show in early December. The semi-finals of Eesti Laul 2021 will take place on February 18 and 20, the winner of the competition will be announced in the final on March 6, 2021.
