TONIGHT: Europe Shine A Light, live from Hilversum


The time has come! Under normal circumstances, tonight there would be Eurovision 2020 Grand Final in Rotterdam. However , according to Eurovision's cancellation due to coronavirus outbreak we will watch an alternative programme, which is produced for honoring this year's participants who couldn't take the stage of Eurovision 2020 in Rotterdam. Eurovision : Europe Shine A Light will air live from Hilversum, Netherlands.

What will happen during the Europe: Shine A Light ?

The show is expected to last 2 hours and the show will feature all 41 chosen artists from Eurovision 2020. Each participants will perform 20 seconds from their songs, and they're all will sing Love Shine A Light together. Love Shine A Light is the winning song of 1997's contest from Katrina and The Waves. Show's title was inspired from this song.

Beyond the 2020 participating artists, we'll also have the opportunity to see some of the famous Eurovision artists! As it's announced by EBU, some of them are Måns Zelmerlöw (2015 Sweden), Marija Šerifović (2017 Serbia) and Netta from Israel 2018!

Last year's winner Duncan Laurence will perform his brand new single "Someone else" tonight.

Michael Schulte who represented Germany in 2018 will join forces with Ilse DeLange (2014 The Netherlands) in performing the 1982 winning entry, Nicole's Ein bisschen Frieden.

Sietse Bakker's comments about the Europe Shine A Light

The Executive Producer Event of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, Sietse Bakker states that;

We want to make a show that puts a spotlight not only on the 41 artists that were due to appear in Rotterdam but also inspire those at home and connect people from across Europe and beyond in these difficult times. Of course, we will also honour those who are affected by the coronavirus crisis and those who work so hard to fight it. Let’s make this an unforgettable moment in Eurovision history!

The show has even more surprises such as the British presenter Graham Norton as well as worldwide famous Youtuber Nikkie Tuttorials, who has interviewed this year's participants in Eurovision youtube channel.

The show will be hosted by Dutch presenters Chantal Janzen, Edsilia Rombley (Eurovision 1998 and 2007) and Jan Smit.

Eurovision Europe Shine A Light will be aired live at 21.00 CEST by every country's public broadcasters as well as on Youtube ;
